Heating
Repair, replacement, and new installation of heat pump systems for year-round climate control.
Call (832) 559-8236Heat pumps handle both heating and cooling in a single system by reversing the refrigerant cycle. In cooling mode, they work like a standard AC. In heating mode, they extract heat from outdoor air and move it inside. In The Woodlands, where winters are mild, heat pumps can handle most of the heating load without a backup furnace.
Repair work on heat pumps includes everything that applies to AC systems, plus the reversing valve and defrost cycle. A reversing valve that sticks in one mode leaves you with either cooling or heating but not both. A defrost board that fails lets ice build up on the outdoor coil, which blocks airflow and reduces heating capacity.
New heat pump installations follow the same load-calculation and sizing process as AC installations. The difference is that the outdoor unit and indoor air handler must be rated as a matched system for both heating and cooling efficiency. We install and service all major heat pump brands.
