Troubleshooting and repair of gas furnaces and electric heating systems.
Call (832) 559-8236A furnace that will not ignite, short-cycles, or blows cold air has a mechanical or electrical cause that can be diagnosed systematically. The igniter, flame sensor, gas valve, limit switch, and blower motor are the most common failure points, and each one tells a different story about what went wrong.
Flame sensors get dirty. A layer of oxidation builds up on the sensing rod, and the furnace control board reads that as no flame. The furnace lights, runs for a few seconds, and shuts down. Cleaning or replacing the sensor is a straightforward fix that costs a fraction of a new furnace. Knowing to check it first is the difference between a diagnostic and a guess.
Blower motors can fail gradually. A motor drawing higher-than-normal amperage runs hot, and heat degrades the bearings and windings over time. Catching an over-amping motor before it seizes saves the motor and prevents secondary damage to the circuit board.
